We’re a small but mighty team of sustainable builders and designers.

Greenacre Building is a sustainable construction company and design practice in south Devon.

We work on new builds, retrofits and heritage properties. Within our team we have two certified Passive House Consultants, a RIBA qualified architect, a qualified engineer, builders with 35+ years of experience, skilled carpenters, a stone mason, expert lime plasterers and an ex-submarine engineer (not necessarily relevant, but definitely noteworthy).

Because we have such a diverse mix of skills in-house, we’re able to look at your project as a whole right from the start - which means greater clarity and less delay. What all our projects have in common is a commitment to doing the right thing: for the environment, for your building and for the health of the people using it.

Really, we’re just about making good buildings.

Happy houses, eco design

We believe in happy houses. Ones that look good, don’t cost the earth (financially and environmentally) and are a joy to be in. A happy house is one that is well made: that lasts a long time without needing endless maintenance or problem fixes. A house like this works in harmony with itself, its surroundings and its occupants.

We believe the best way to make happy houses is through eco design. By this we mean design that prioritises low carbon and environmentally friendly natural materials, healthy ventilation, efficient use of space and low-energy building performance. Sustainable construction is the bridge between eco design and a happy house.

Meet the team

Dan set up Greenacre Building about 5 years ago after previously running a sustainable building company in Bristol.

Dan is a qualified engineer and Passive House Consultant. He has 20 years experience working on a huge variety of building and engineering projects. Dan oversees all of Greenacre’s projects.

These qualifications and experiences have all shaped the development of Greenacre’s sustainable values and holistic approach to design and construction.

When not building houses Dan makes bread, grows tomatoes, goes sailing and rock climbing and spends time with his wife and kids.

Want to work with us?

We’re always looking for friendly, motivated people to join our growing team. Design and building experience is useful but not essential. The most important things we look for is enthusiasm for the work, respect for other people and an interest in learning.

Greenacre Building is an inclusive employer - nothing matters to us except the work. So if you like the sound of what we’re about, we’d love to hear from you.
